Though I’d pick “Knowing Me, Knowing You” as my quintessential ABBA cut . . .
The other one it pained me to omit was “Me and Mrs Jones” . . .

Both excellent tracks, indeed!
I can’t justify kicking any of those out of the top 10 to accommodate them, but ELO would have a track in my top 20, likely “Telephone Line.” My oldest recently “discovered” them, and I have enjoyed revisiting their catalog more regularly of late with him.

I will spot you some of those core ELO songs . . . truly brilliant, epic pop. When I first formed this list, the three songs that I had in mind were the first three: “I’m Not in Love” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Good Vibrations” because they were such epic PRODUCTIONS . . . and I think ELO at their peak falls into that category as well, as does Ike’s best stuff . . .

If its popular songs of the Rock-and-Roll era, maybe, but I’d put “You’re The Top” by Cole Porter on a list of Top 10 of the Twentieth Century.

That is a classic, indeed . . . another of the pre-“Rock Around the Clock” era that is clearly a classic of the ages for me is Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood” . . .
